The questioner : The questioner from Hadramawt says in this question: I am listening to the Holy Quran Radio from some of the modern scholars, and during their conversation they mention the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Should I send blessings upon the Messenger while they are mentioning him (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. If a person hears the mention of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), let him send blessings upon him. For Jibril said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "May the nose of the man who is mentioned in his presence and does not send blessings upon you be crushed. Say, 'Ameen.' So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Ameen ءامين
"
For this reason, some of the scholars of knowledge said that it is obligatory for the one who hears the mention of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to send blessings upon him. And based on this, if you hear in this program, the program "Light on the Path," the mention of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), send blessings upon him. And you, my brother, if you do that, you will be saved from this warning, and then you will obtain a reward. For whoever sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) once, Allah sends blessings upon him ten times. So if you send blessings upon the Prophet (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him), you will obtain three benefits. The first benefit is obeying the command of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), for Allah says:
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.
[Al-Ahzab 33:56]
.
The second benefit is that it is a right of the Messenger (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) that you send blessings upon him, because Allah saved you from misguidance through him and guided you to the right path through him (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him). There is no path that leads to the pleasure of Allah the Exalted and His Paradise except the path of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). If a person were to guide you to the road of a country you are traveling to, you would consider it a favor owed to him. How much more so with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who guided you to the path that leads to Paradise? It is his right over you that you send blessings upon him (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him).
The third benefit is that if you send blessings upon him once, Allah will send blessings upon you ten times. And the meaning of sending blessings upon the Prophet is that Allah praises His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the highest assembly. This is what Abu al-'Aliyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said. If this is the meaning of Allah's sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), then likewise, Allah the Exalted will raise your mention and send blessings upon you, praising you in the presence of the angels who are brought near. This is a blessing, and one good deed is ten times its like, and praise be to Allah. For this reason, it is recommended for a person to send many blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at all times and moments. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh.
