When does the one in i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) leave his place of i'tikaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : And this questioner asks: When does the one in i'tikaf leave his place of i'tikaf?

The Shaykh : We have previously mentioned that i'tikaf is in the last ten days, and that it is prescribed for the purpose of seeking the Night of Decree. Based on this, when the sun sets on the last day of Ramadan, the time for i'tikaf ends. If a person wishes to leave, he may leave. And if he remains until he leaves his place of i'tikaf for the festival prayer, there is no blame on him. In fact, some jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) recommended that the one in i'tikaf remain until he leaves his place of i'tikaf for the festival prayer. However, if he leaves his place of i'tikaf after the sun sets on the night of the festival, he will have completed the entire last ten days of i'tikaf, and the recommended practice (sunnah) is thereby achieved.
