The prevalence of images on children's clothing these days, which is a widespread affliction; what is the ruling on that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The prevalence of images on children's clothing these days, which is a widespread affliction; what is the ruling on that?

The Shaykh : Yes, the images on clothing, whether children's clothing or adults' clothing, a person must avoid them. The jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) explicitly stated the prohibition of wearing anything containing an image, whether it is a garment, a t-shirt, trousers, or otherwise, especially if the image is of a disbeliever placed in a manner of veneration. For example, some t-shirts have images of some disbelieving football players; in that case, the prohibition is compounded because it involves wearing the image and venerating the disbeliever. It is well known that venerating a disbeliever is not befitting for a Muslim. How can it be befitting for a Muslim to venerate a disbeliever? Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said in His great Book:
nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that is registered for them as a righteous deed
[At-Tawbah 9:120]
