The Shaykh : They are all 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered), and if a woman wears them, she falls under the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 2128 We ask Allah for safety. Therefore, what I see is that it is not permissible for a woman to adopt these styles or use them, whether in clothing or in the style of the hair, because we are Muslims and it is obligatory for us to be distinguished from the disbelievers and from what is specific to the disbelievers. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim Mukhalafat Ahl al-Jahim* (Following the Straight Path in Opposing the People of the Fire), which is a fine book that I advise every student of knowledge to acquire and read. He said in this book, commenting on this hadith: "The least of the rulings of this hadith is prohibition, even though its apparent meaning implies the disbelief of one who imitates them, because he said: " And this book, which is "Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim Mukhalafat Ahl al-Jahim", when the reader reads it, says that it is as if Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) is looking at our present age, because in many things, Muslims today have fallen into [these practices]. It is obligatory upon the wali al-amr (the one in authority) who is in charge of the woman, and he is the man whom Allah the Exalted has made the maintainer (qawwam) of the woman; it is obligatory upon him that if he sees in his house such evil magazines, it is obligatory upon him to tear these magazines and to forbid his family from them. If he does not do so, he is sinful, because the man is accountable. The One who said in His Book, Glorified and Exalted is He: [An-Nisa 4:34] And His Prophet said: This man will be asked what he did regarding his family when they brought these styles. Moreover, these styles will lead the woman to make him buy such things for her, whether she is a wife, a daughter, a sister, or otherwise. She will burden him with money, and whenever a new style appears, even if it is uglier than the previous one but it is new, she will demand that he buy it for her. There is no doubt that in this is the loss of money, and in this is the growth of the wealth of our enemies and the strengthening of their economy, because these great sums of money, which are like rivers, where do they flow? They flow into the stores of the disbelievers, who benefit from them and protect themselves with them, and perhaps they will make from them weapons to fight the Muslims. Yes.
