Explaining the Prescribed Nature of Congratulating One Another on the Day of Eid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And among the things done on this Eid is people congratulating one another. People congratulate one another with what? With being rid of Ramadan, or with being rid of sins through Ramadan? Yes, what is it?
With being rid of sins through Ramadan. And there is a difference between saying "we are rid of Ramadan" and "we are rid of sins through Ramadan." Just as there is a difference between saying "we found rest in prayer" and "we found rest from prayer." Which one is praiseworthy? "We found rest in prayer." And the blameworthy one is "we found rest from it." So, being rid of Ramadan, the phrase "being rid of Ramadan" is blameworthy. All the believers love for the month of Ramadan to be present throughout the entire year. Being rid of sins through Ramadan is praiseworthy, yes.
