Fourth: What serves as a substitute for eating and drinking, such as nutritional injections.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Do you have something?
The student: He said:
and sniff water up into your nostrils, thoroughly, unless you are fasting. وبالغ في الاستنشاق إلا أن تكون صائماً
Sunan Ibn Majah 407Sahih (Darussalam)

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right. Well, the answer to this is that we say the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Snuff up water freely unless you are fasting. بالغ في الاستنشاق إلا أن تكون صائماً
Sunan Abi Dawud 2366Sahih (Al-Albani)
Because if you sniff water while fasting and do so vigorously, water may enter your stomach through the nose. It is known that water entering the stomach through the nose does not provide pleasure, for pleasure lies only in tasting. This indicates that the analogy is complete regarding nutritional injections. As for injections that do not nourish, they do not break the fast, whether the person receives them through the muscles or through the vein, because they are not eating or drinking, nor are they in the meaning of eating and drinking. Well, one, two, three.
The student: This is the fourth.

The Shaykh : This is the fourth.
