The fourth factor that breaks the fast, which is what serves as a substitute for food and drink, namely nutritional injections, along with the evidence.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, what remains of the factors that break the fast is what serves as a substitute for food and drink. Pay attention to the phrase: "what serves as a substitute for food and drink," meaning what one can do without food and drink. This refers to nutritional injections. Nutritional injections, because some injections provide nourishment and allow one to do without food and drink. I do not know if there is a doctor who can explain the name of them to us.

The questioner : Glucose.

The Shaykh : He says its name is glucose. These are the ones by which one can do without food and drink, meaning that if the patient is injected, he can do without food and drink. If a fasting person takes this, his fast is invalid. What is the evidence? The evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
It is Allah who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance الله الذي أنزل الكتاب بالحق والميزان
[Ash-Shuraa 42:17]
and the saying of Allah the Exalted:
We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. لقد أرسلنا رسلنا بالبينات وأنزلنا معهم الكتاب والميزان ليقوم الناس بالقسط
[Al-Hadid 57:25]
Pay attention, you might say that the verse does not mention fasting, nor does it mention food, drink, or injections.
