The meaning of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, a man may do the deeds of the people of Paradise in what appears to people, yet he is among the people of the Fire."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says:
A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise, but he is of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire إن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة فيما يبدو للناس وهو من أهل النار
Sahih al-Bukhari 4207
Well, how does Allah abandon this person who is doing the deeds of the people of Paradise? Even though Allah is the most generous of the generous, how does Allah abandon this person? The answer is that there is a hidden evil in his heart, and that is what led him to destruction. For this reason, I repeat two or three times that we should purify our hearts, that we should purify the hearts, that we should refine them until they are pure. And when the heart is sound, the whole body is sound. Now, Allah the Exalted says:
do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing. لا تقدموا بين يدي الله ورسوله واتقوا الله إن الله سميع عليم
[Al-Hujurat 49:1]
