It does not mean that if a person is excused due to ignorance, he is not required to learn; rather, it is obligatory for him to learn.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : However, our saying that a person is excused due to ignorance does not mean that he is not required to learn. Rather, it is obligatory for a person to learn the rulings of worship before he enters into worship, because it is well known that one who takes a path is asked about that path before he enters it. Many people nowadays come and ask after they have done the thing; they come and ask about it after they have done it. If he made a defective sale, he comes and asks about it. If he performed a defective act of worship, he comes and asks about it. The truth is that wisdom and intellect dictate that you ask about a thing before doing it and learn it before entering into it. As for when you have done a harmful thing, or done a thing in a deficient manner, and then you come to ask, this is undoubtedly contrary to wisdom.
