Her mother prevents him from learning Islam
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 11593 )
Q1: Whatis the ruling on the one whose mother forced him to stop learning Islam, and he refused to do so? Does he bear any sin, and what should he do?
A1: It is obligatory for you to be dutiful to your mother, to treat her well in word and deed, and to accompany her with kindness. However, you must not obey her in abandoning the learning of Islam. Rather, it is obligatory for you to learn what is an individual obligation (fard 'ayn) upon you from your religion, to act upon it, to call others to it, and to be patient with the hardships you encounter in that path. There is no blame on you for refusing your mother’s order to you to stop learning the Islamic religion. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
