The story of the Bedouin who urinated in the mosque.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And another piece of evidence is
That a Bedouin came to the mosque and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with his Companions, so he began to urinate in the mosque.
What is the ruling on urinating in the mosque?
The student: Forbidden.

The Shaykh : It is forbidden. Good.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Well done, it is forbidden
So when this Bedouin began to urinate, the Companions shouted at him and forbade him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not stop him.
, meaning do not stop his urination.
And he rebuked them, so they were silent. When the Bedouin finished urinating, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a bucket of water be poured on his urine.
And the buckets, brother.
The student: Pour water on it in proportion to the urine...

The Shaykh : But what is a bucket?
The student: A bucket.

The Shaykh : A bucket. Good.
He ordered that a bucket of water be poured on his urine.
. When the buckets were poured on it, was the harm removed or not?
It was removed, the ground was purified.
Then he called the Bedouin and said to him: These mosques are not suitable for any harm or filth; they are only for prayer, reciting the Qur'an, and dhikr (remembrance of Allah).
Or as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said.
So the Bedouin said: O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad, and do not have mercy on anyone with us.
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2:524
. Why? Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to him gently, while the Companions spoke to him harshly, so he said:
O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad, and do not have mercy on anyone with us.
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2:524
. And so the caller to Allah, the one who enjoins good and forbids evil, should use gentleness and softness. Let us look, my brothers: is the wisdom in making this Bedouin stand up from his urine, or in letting him remain at his urine and then removing the bad effect resulting from his urine? The second one, or the first?
The student: The second.

The Shaykh : The second. Good. Why? If he had stood up: either he would cover his private parts with his garment, in which case his garment would become contaminated with impurity. Or he would remain with his garment raised, in which case his private parts would be exposed and the mosque would become contaminated with droplets, thus expanding the area of impurity. Is that not so? Good. So the wisdom is that he remains and this danger does not occur.
Also, if he had stood up and stopped his urination while the urine was ready to come out, there would be harm to him from a health perspective. And it is known that anything that contains harm from a health perspective is prohibited, because Allah the Exalted said in His Book:
And do not kill yourselves [or one another]ولا تقتلوا أنفسكم
[An-Nisa 4:29]
, and because Allah the Exalted commanded tayammum (dry ablution) when a person is sick and using water would harm him.
Good. So what is one of the etiquettes of the one who enjoins and forbids? That he considers wisdom such that no greater evil results from his command or prohibition than what he commanded or prohibited.
