Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then we come to the stars. The high, lofty stars pierce the atmosphere until their light reaches the earth. They are so distant that astronomers say you may find two stars that appear close together, but they are only close in the eye’s view. The distance between each star and the other is like the distance between the earth and a star. Yes, those with knowledge have told us this, and we have observed it in nature.
You find two stars that you would say are in the same place, but the distance between each one and the other is like the distance between the second one and the earth. And yet, we find that they move as if they were brothers who never separate, despite the distance between them. The two stars in the sky will not separate. I am speaking of the two stars that are the ends of the Lesser Pleiades. If you see them, you would say this one is right next to the other in its weight, but there is a difference between them. And yet, their movement never differs; their conjunction is always one, by the creation of this
[It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things صنع الله الذي أتقن كل شيء
[An-Naml 27:88]
