The Science of Calculation and the Observation of the Stars

The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19169 )
Q1: We constantly read in the calendar about Sagittarius or Capricorn and other zodiac signs, as well as some of the star groups (anwa') such as the star group of al-Ghafar or the star group of al-Na'ayim and other star groups. The calendar writes about them certain things related to rain and winds, that the cold becomes severe or the heat increases, and that some fruits ripen in some of them and not in others, and many things related to the length of the night and its shortening, as well as the day. My question is: Do these zodiac signs and these star groups, and what is written about them regarding rain, winds, cold, heat, and so on, have any basis of truth? And what is the ruling on believing in these things?
A1 : What is mentioned about these zodiac signs and these star groups regarding the occurrence of rain or its absence, winds, cold, heat, vegetation, and the like, is not a claim of knowledge of the unseen in any way. Rather, it is what is the custom of Allah the Exalted in this universe, and people have come to know it through experience and living with it. Furthermore, these are also nothing but predictions that may sometimes fail for a wisdom known only to He who decreed it, Glorified and Exalted is He. Based on what has preceded, reporting them
and believing in them must not go beyond the realm of conjecture to certainty and conviction. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
