Does a person take emergency leave for the purpose of i'tikaf, or does he perform i'tikaf after the end of work?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the context of the discussion, regarding i'tikaf, does a person take leave for that i'tikaf, leave...

The Shaykh : Leave... leave, is it not emergency leave?

The questioner : Does he take emergency leave for the purpose of i'tikaf? That is, he says he takes emergency leave for the purpose of i'tikaf, or does he perform i'tikaf after the end of work?

The Shaykh : We say that for an employee, performing his job is performing an obligation, and performing an obligation is better than performing a voluntary act. Do not think that if you leave off, for example, 'Umrah, or leave off i'tikaf, or leave off a voluntary act for the sake of your job, that you are a loser. You are more profitable than the one who comes to the voluntary act and leaves the job, without doubt, because the obligatory is more beloved to Allah the Exalted than anything else. In the Qudsi Hadith:
And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him ما تقرب إلي عبدي بشيء أحب إلي مما افترضته عليه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6502
Therefore, it is not permissible to take emergency leave to perform 'Umrah, nor to take emergency leave for the purpose of i'tikaf. And the leave, praise be to Allah, will start on the twenty-fourth, I think the twenty-fourth. You have six days for the one who wants to perform 'Umrah. As for the one who wants to perform i'tikaf, he intends in his heart that were it not for this work, he would have performed i'tikaf from the beginning of the ten days. So when he finishes his work, he performs i'tikaf for the remainder, and there is no blame on him. Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : How...?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, it is not permissible. It is not permissible because the exit of the one performing i'tikaf for trade or work invalidates the i'tikaf. Yes.
