Explaining the Benefit of Knowing the Names and Attributes of Allah

The Shaykh : The reality is that we should know that our knowledge of these meanings of the Names of Allah must have an effect on us. For example, if we know that Allah encompasses everything with knowledge, this necessitates that we do not disobey the command of Allah, because if we were to disobey the command of Allah, He would know about us. And we should not sin or fall into what Allah has forbidden, because He knows. We should also know that no matter how hidden a place on earth we are in, Allah is aware of us. We should also know that if we were to look with a forbidden gaze that creation does not know about, Allah the Exalted would know about it, is that not so? Therefore, there should be a practical benefit for us from knowing the meanings of the Names and Attributes of Allah, rather than our knowledge of them being mere observation. If we are not affected by their implications, we do not benefit from them much. Yes.
