The meaning of the poet's statement: "And you adopted two patterns, the pattern of arrogance and the great wandering, so wretched are those two patterns"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And you adopted two patterns, the pattern of arrogance and the great wandering, so wretched are those two patterns"
This is also what they did: arrogance, which is the refusal to accept the truth, and wandering, which is looking down on people, looking down on people. They said:
"And you extended toward the heights" with what? With eyes.
"And you extended toward the heights with eyes, but your arms were not long enough to reach them"
Yes, meaning that they extended their arms or eyes to attain the heights, but they were unable to attain the heights. Why? Because they did not have sincere faith. If they had been sincere, they would have attained the heights, for Allah says:
Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees يرفع الله الذين آمنوا منكم والذين أوتوا العلم درجات
[Al-Mujadila 58:11]
But they were not sincere in this; they only wanted their own words to prevail. And Allah knows best.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author, Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him), said in the explanation, or in the section: "The section explaining that the calamity that befell the people of denial and disbelief, from the aspect of the names for which Allah has not sent down any authority". He said, yes.
