Can I continue reading and memorizing the Qur'an during menstruation without touching the Qur'an?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, can I continue reading and memorizing the Qur'an during menstruation without touching the Qur'an?

The Shaykh : Yes, we can do that, because this is a pressing need. If a menstruating woman reads the Qur'an out of need, there is nothing wrong with it, because there are no explicit, authentic texts in the Sunnah indicating that a menstruating woman is prohibited from reading the Qur'an. So if she needs to do so for memorization, or to help others memorize, or for her daily recitation at night or during the day, there is no blame on her for reading the Qur'an.
However, if she does not have a need, it is better that she not read the Qur'an, out of consideration for the disagreement of the majority of scholars.
