He did not forget you, and He reminded you, so make it so that *** He does not forget you. You began with kindness (Ibn al-Qayyim’s praise of his Lord, his hope, and seeking nearness to Allah through His actions)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says:
"He did not forget you, and He reminded you, so make it so that *** He does not forget you. You began with kindness"
This is wondrous speech. "He did not forget you, and He reminded you." Yes, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) did not forget man; He did not forget the believing servant. And He reminded him with what? He provided him with blessings and guided him to Islam. This is among the greatest forms of remembrance. He says: "So make it so that He does not forget you", meaning, just as you did not forget Him, make it so that He does not forget you. This is a form of seeking nearness to Allah the Exalted through His actions. Seeking nearness to Allah the Exalted through His actions is permissible. We say, "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim," and we seek nearness through Your sending blessings upon Ibrahim so that You will send blessings upon Your Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Seeking nearness to Allah through His actions is among the permissible forms of seeking nearness. "You began with kindness".
