The Shaykh : We remain with the third aspect of being free from defect. Being free from defect means being free from any flaw or imperfection. Allah the Exalted is free from any defect or imperfection.
Now, if someone were to say: Is sleep in a human being a perfection?
The student: It is an imperfection.
The Shaykh : An imperfection. Now, which is more perfect: our life here, or life in Paradise? Is there sleep in Paradise? So it becomes an imperfection; it becomes an imperfection. But this imperfection is a need, yes. However, this imperfection existed only because of the weakness of the body in enduring the hardships of life and resisting them. For that reason, Allah has bestowed upon us sleep.
