Explaining that eating and drinking are a deficiency in one aspect and a perfection in another

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It has become a deficiency, but this deficiency is necessary. Yes, but this deficiency exists only because the body is weak in enduring the hardships of life and resisting them. For this reason, Allah has bestowed upon us sleep so that we may rest from some of the fatigue of the past and renew our energy for the future. However, considering that humanity is built upon deficiency, it is considered a perfection. It is considered a perfection because the one who sleeps and wakes up is more complete than the one who does not sleep. Therefore, if a person does not sleep, his health collapses.
As for eating and drinking, they are not a deficiency in their original nature, because the body needs them. It needs them for survival and growth. So, it is a deficiency, but it is a perfection from another perspective, in that it sustains the body and allows it to grow. Therefore, one who does not eat—yes, it must be due to an illness. Otherwise, by the nature of things, it is not possible for him to abstain from eating.
