The hadith regarding the adhan in the ear of the newborn.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Halabi : Here, a brother is asking about the hadith of the adhan in the ear of the newborn, and that it is weak. But is it possible, or is it possible, that it could be strengthened, even partially, by the hadith of Satan pricking the newborn, and by combining it with the hadith
When the mu'adhdhin calls, Satan turns away. إن المؤذن إلى أذن ولى الشيطان
? Can we combine these hadiths to cite the generality of that hadith?

The Shaykh : I believe the answer to this question lies in the previous explanation. That is, it is not correct for us to take a system or rule from the generalities of evidence where we do not have the practice operating on the concept we understood. If the text were a general proof, what is the connection between the hadith of Satan pricking and the legislation of the adhan in the ear of the newborn? If the hadith is not authentic, what is understood from this authentic hadith?
Al-Halabi : The questioner : He says, along with the hadith
When the mu'adhdhin calls, Satan turns away. إذا أذن المؤذن ولى الشيطان
, that since Satan humiliates the newborn and the adhan is called, it is as if this is a repulsion.

The Shaykh : Good. When does Satan perform the function of pricking? When?
Al-Halabi : At birth.

The Shaykh : Okay, at birth, has the pricking already happened or not? It has happened and ended, because every person, every newborn, as you know, must be pricked by Satan, except...
Al-Halabi : Mary (peace be upon her).

The Shaykh : So it has no connection to the newborn in that it repels Satan and prevents him from pricking, because this is a general matter, general for all newborns, and it is a trial from Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Therefore, if the hadith were authentic and the adhan were from the Sunnah, from the authentic Sunnah, this would be an act of worship. And if, for example, Ibn al-Qayyim or someone else (may Allah have mercy on him) explained the reason to be that the first thing to reach the ear of the newborn is the tawhid (the oneness of Allah) of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), there is no harm in this. But it has no connection to preventing the pricking of Satan. I think the answer is clear.
Al-Halabi : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.

The questioner : ... that the adhan is permissible.

The Shaykh : No, no. We used to say in the past that the hadith reported in Sunan al-Tirmidhi had a weakness in its chain, and we strengthened it with another hadith we had read in Tuhfat al-Wadud by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him). At that time, he attributed it to al-Bayhaqi in al-Shu'ab, and the book al-Shu'ab had not yet been printed. So I strengthened the hadith of al-Tirmidhi with the hadith of al-Bayhaqi. This is how the scientific and hadith rules inspire and help us. But when the book al-Shu'ab al-Iman by al-Bayhaqi was printed, and praise be to Allah, a few years ago, I immediately returned to the hadith, which is from the narration of Ibn Abbas, and found that in its chain there is a man accused of fabrication. And by the consensus of scholars, a hadith in whose chain there is a man accused of fabrication is severely weak, and it does not become the slight weakness that is in Sunan al-Tirmidhi. Therefore, we returned from what we had previously adopted regarding the recommendation of the adhan in the ear of the newborn.
