The Ruling on the Adhan and Iqamah in the Ear of the Newborn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! Is the adhan in the right ear and the iqamah in the left ear of the newborn done on the seventh day, or on the first day, or when is it done—may Allah reward you?

First: We must ask: Is this among the prescribed matters or not? Because the hadiths reported regarding this are not of that strength, especially the iqamah,And whoever authenticated the hadiths reported regarding this said: that it is done at the birth of the newborn, as came in these hadiths.
And the wisdom behind this is that the first thing to reach his hearing is the adhan, which contains the exaltation of Allah, His oneness, and the call to prayer and success. This is the aspect of it being done at birth.

As for naming the newborn: If his name has been determined before birth, he is named at birth; for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon his family one day and said: (A child was born to me tonight and I named him Ibrahim) But if his name has not been determined before his birth, it is better that the naming be on the seventh day; because it is the day on which his 'aqiqah is slaughtered, his head is shaved, and he is circumcised if he is a male.
