The Ruling on Adhan and Iqamah in the Ears of a Newborn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question, Your Eminence, is about performing the adhan in the right ear of the newborn and the iqamah in his left ear?
Answer: This is prescribed according to a group of scholars, and some hadiths have been reported regarding it, though there is discussion about their chains of narration. If a believer does it, it is good, because it falls under the category of recommended practices and voluntary acts. The hadith in its chain includes Asim ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn Asim ibn 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, and it is weak, but it has corroborating narrations. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named Ibrahim, but it is not recorded that he performed the adhan when Ibrahim was born; he named him Ibrahim, and it is not recorded that he performed the adhan in his right ear and the iqamah in his left.
Likewise, the children who were brought to him from the Ansar to have their mouths rubbed with dates and to be named, I have not found that he performed the adhan in the ear of any one of them and the iqamah. However, if a believer does that based on the hadiths we mentioned, there is nothing wrong with it, because they support one another. The matter is broad in this regard: if he does it, it is good due to what came in the hadiths that support one another, and if he leaves it, there is nothing wrong. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
