A question regarding the second edition of the verification of Mishkat al-Masabih and some other books.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding Mishkat al-Masabih, do you recall saying that you have a second verification of it? Has it been completed yet?

The Shaykh : No, we have not directed our efforts toward this second verification. Rather, whenever a hadith comes up and I return to "Mishkat" and find that a space has been left blank for it, I search for it and perhaps include it in one of the two categories, "Sahih" (authentic) or "Da'if" (weak), or others. Then I provide a summary. And when I attribute it to it, I say, "The second verification, may Allah know whether it will be completed or whether my life will end before this is completed, in the knowledge of Allah the Mighty and Majestic." As for specifically directing my efforts to complete the second verification of al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, the works I am engaged in are broader and more numerous than to allow me to return anew to look into the hadiths for which I had left spaces. I think I mentioned in the introduction that I had been requested to teach at the university and I excused myself from those who asked me to comment on Mishkat when they wanted to print it, so they were content with what was feasible for me. And so I proceeded, and thus I missed commenting on many of the hadiths because I was traveling.
Abu Malik: ... Also, this session that you were compelled to hold due to circumstances, does it also apply to "al-Sunnah" by Abu 'Aasim?

The Shaykh : All my previous books, or at least the majority of them, this applies to them.
Abu Malik: Our Shaykh, this is necessary, it is a must.

The Shaykh : Meaning a review.
Abu Malik: It is necessary, it is a must to point to it, meaning the books that, for example, you proceeded with or that suffered from gaps or deficiencies, we say as a result of circumstances, it is necessary to list them or mention them.

The Shaykh : By Allah, Professor, this depends on the occasion.
Al-Halabi : Because our Shaykh, as our Professor Abu Malik (may Allah preserve him) said, al-Sunnah is in about a quarter of the hadiths.

The Shaykh : I told him less, that he complete it, he says no. He means something else, yes.
