Explanation of Hadiths from the Book of Faith in Mishkat al-Masabih. ?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except with Allah. There is no god but Allah.
The student: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited, in the context of the hadiths in the first chapter of the Book of Faith, from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Islam is based on five things: the testimony that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the observance of the prayer, the payment of zakat , the Pilgrimage, and the fast during Ramadan.
Mishkat al-Masabih 4Muttafaqun 'alayh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Faith has over seventy branches, the most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but God, and the humblest of which is the removal of what is injurious from the road. And modesty is a branch of faith.
Mishkat al-Masabih 5Muttafaqun 'alayh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author of the book Mishkat, Mishkat al-Masabih, cited the hadith of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the coming of Jibril to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his questioning him about Islam, faith, excellence in worship, the Hour, and its signs. Then he cited the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Islam is built on five
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5001Sahih (Darussalam)
Building upon something means that what it is built upon is the foundation of the building, just as you make a house with walls upon which you erect the roof, or pillars upon which you erect the roof. So Islam, which Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) brought, is built upon these five great pillars.
The first is the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. This is the foundation of Islam, and there is no entry into Islam except through it; it is the first door of Islam. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and they establish prayer, and pay Zakat
Sahih Muslim 22
The testimony that there is no god but Allah means that a person believes in his heart and speaks with his tongue that there is no true object of worship except Allah alone. So whatever is worshipped besides Allah is not a god. Al-Lat, al-'Uzza, Manat, Hubal, and the other idols of Quraysh and others are all false, as Allah the Exalted said:
That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood
[Al-Hajj 22:62]
And when a person testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah truly, from his heart, he will act in accordance with its implications. He will not divert any part of worship to anyone but Allah. He will not bow to anyone, nor prostrate to anyone, nor love anyone as he loves Allah, nor fear anyone as he fears Allah, nor be afraid of anyone as he is afraid of Allah, nor any of the other implications and requirements of this testimony. It is not merely a verbal statement. The verbal statement prevents the one who says it from considering his blood and wealth lawful to be taken, but it does not benefit him if there is no truth and certainty in his heart regarding it. For this reason, you find Allah the Mighty and Majestic saying:
Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire
[An-Nisa 4:145]
And they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Allah the Exalted said:
when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little,
[An-Nisa 4:142]
So they mention Allah, but it does not benefit them. They come to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and say: We testify that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah. They testify with a confirmed testimony using "in" and "lam," and yet Allah the Mighty and Majestic said, refuting them:
And Allah knows that you are His Messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:1]
I ask Allah the Exalted to make our hearts and your hearts tranquil and certain that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Among the implications of the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah is that a person does not innovate in the religion of Muhammad what is not part of it. The people of innovation have not realized the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, because if they had realized it, they would not have innovated in his religion what is not from it. They say: We do this out of respect for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and for the sake of protecting his religion. We say: What you do contradicts respect, because respect is not to exceed what is described to you regarding the one being respected. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) defined the Shari'ah, clarified it, and warned against innovations, saying:
Every innovation is misguidance.
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 2:42
Also, whoever prioritizes the worldly life over the Hereafter, such as being present at the time of prayer while occupied with his trade and not caring about the prayer, has not realized the testimony that there is no god but Allah. Because by this action, he worships what? He worships the world, he worships trade. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Wretched is the slave of the dinar, wretched is the slave of the dirham, wretched is the slave of the khumayseh, wretched is the slave of the khumaylah.
He made them slaves to these things because they made them the greatest of their concerns, the limit of their knowledge, and the end of their goals. Otherwise, it is known that they do not prostrate to the dinar, nor to the dirham, nor to the khumaysah, nor to the khumaylah, but they prioritized them over the worship of Allah, so they became slaves to them. They became slaves to them. The lover with his beloved makes himself a slave to the beloved, until the lover said: Do not address me except as "her slave," for that is the noblest of my names. I seek refuge in Allah! Meaning, do not call me except "O my slave, so-and-so," because that is the noblest of his names in his view. This is a slave to passion, and I seek refuge in Allah. For this reason, it becomes clear that the hadith containing
Whoever has passion and conceals it and remains chaste is a martyr.
is a false hadith and is not authentic, because it is not possible to have passion for a creation while there is love for the Creator in the heart, since passion means that the heart is occupied with the beloved and forgets everything else, and this contradicts the perfection of servitude. There are many examples of this. The important thing is, my brother, to realize the testimony that there is no god but Allah, so worship Allah sincerely in your religion. Realize the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, so do not exceed the Shari'ah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). If you do, then you have not realized it. And Allah grants success.
