A clarification from Shaykh Mashhur that the students benefiting from the Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) must follow his character and guidance, and not focus only on the issue of

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He is a professor, perhaps the professor of Brother Mashhur, who asked you for this speech. He intended it for the brothers among us who are concerned with matters of purification and, without realizing it, distance themselves from the fundamental matters of education that the Muslim needs.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : I mean, as you know, many brothers are very concerned with certain matters, for example, the matters of hadith science that many people have now adopted, and they forget, for example, to be concerned with the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in terms of its exegesis, memorization, and recitation, and education based on the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah in the houses of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and in the presence of the scholars. Perhaps this is what Brother Mashhur had in mind.

The Shaykh : In any case, he is able, may Allah reward him with good, to articulate what he wants, perhaps better than others. So, strive and do not be stingy.
Mashhur: May Allah reward you with good, our Shaykh. Without a doubt, the one who listens to your lessons and gatherings, by the permission of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), without a doubt receives a large share of education. But the issue is a problem, and its difficulty is a chain, with each link holding the next. Without a doubt, I do not separate purification from education, for whoever attains education, as Imam al-Dhahabi (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "Whoever seeks knowledge for Allah, knowledge breaks him," and attains education. Without a doubt, I wanted to address the listening brothers, and I wanted a word also for the brothers in the mosques who were not able, due to their circumstances or their specific situations, to sit with you. And if they were able, perhaps they sat once, or it is not allowed for them to sit more than once, and so on. I want, our Shaykh, from my speech, as I mentioned, for those present, and I wish, I ask the brothers present to convey the character.

The Shaykh : Convey the character?
Mashhur: The character and the guidance.

The Shaykh : The character and the guidance.
Mashhur: I mean, we see in the gatherings of some of the teaching brothers that we do not see what we see, I mean, of your forbearance, and the breadth of your character, and your patience in enduring the one who disagrees with you, and you allow him to speak, and so on. And I am certain that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not benefit with this call through knowledge alone, but knowledge must be accompanied by character, guidance, and demeanor. Al-Qa'nabi comes to mind, he says: "We used to sit with Malik and take from his character and guidance as we take from his knowledge, that is, his hadith."

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
Mashhur: So for this reason, I truly wanted what I wanted. And also, we find that the common people are given lessons now, and I am now among those who participate in this. For example, if we wanted to look at the guiding brothers and their lessons and their guidance, we would find that the terminology is principles, and sometimes some of them is language, and all of it, as is not hidden, is rigid with rigidity.

The Shaykh : Indeed, by Allah
Mashhur: As for the other side, the side in which few have a share, and this also helps to keep one part of the path long and the other short. This is what was in my mind.

The Shaykh : But what is the cause of the problem?
Mashhur: I benefit, I myself, first the question...

The Shaykh : The cause of the problem, may Allah bless you, is the absence of, I mean, the cooperators. This problem is a barren land, I mean, there are no men, yes.
Al-'Awaisheh: I mean, our Shaykh, what he is going around in his speech regarding the issue of purification and education. The issue of purification, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, our Lord has guided us with you, may Allah preserve you, regarding this matter. As Brother Abu Anas (may Allah preserve him) mentioned when he questioned and raised the matter regarding education, education does not go beyond being the application of what came in the Book and the Sunnah.

The Shaykh : Yes.
Al-'Awaisheh: And when it comes to this purification, this issue of purification, if we come to it, it is on the level of the individual, on the level of the family, on the level of the street, on the level of the nation, and so on. So this needs, I mean, huge practical efforts. The existing scholar with his existing capabilities, like you, that he has the house, he has some students, he has the capabilities that Allah enabled him with, so he cannot, for example, now contact every Muslim or non-Muslim on the face of the earth and perform... So these are matters, I mean, matters of education are the application of what came in purification. So the qualification, in my opinion, the capabilities exist, I mean, the qualification and the competence, but the issue of the practical capability that Allah placed in the human being...

The Shaykh : The energy is limited.
Al-'Awaisheh: The energy is limited, so here it is obligatory, in fact, on the issue called today the callers, and every person according to his energy to proceed and to implement these things. For example, we read a hadith that is authentic, or according to the tracing, for example, good from other sources, such and such, and you, for example, labored with the corroborations and the routes and so on to prove this matter. Now it remains for, for example, the rest, the common people, or the students of knowledge, or according to their levels, to apply this matter on themselves and in their families and on their brothers, and such a matter. So the shortcoming, in fact, the issue needs more activity, I mean, from the students of knowledge and from the callers to Allah (Exalted and Majestic) in this matter. And it is not truly demanded of, I mean, we demand it of one person or two or so. This is my opinion, and Allah knows best.

The Shaykh : The problem is very wide, but the person must watch his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) and work with his effort and ability to perform what Allah has obligated upon him of conveying knowledge, and knowledge itself commands action. But the practical education that he is going around in is, in fact, requires the mixing of the people of knowledge and the people of purification and education with the people. And this is what is not facilitated for those whom Allah has blessed with something of that. Perhaps I am throwing two birds with one stone, O Professor. Now, a sneezer sneezed just now, and one, two, three responded to him, and the audience was silent. And this is contrary to the command of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) where he said
If one of you sneezes, it is a right for everyone who hears it to respond to him إذا عطس أحدكم فحق على كل من سمع عنده أن يشمّته
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 39:8
So those who heard it were many, but those who paid attention to it and responded to it were few. What is the reason? The society is living like this. So what will fix this society? The Jordanian society where after thousands upon thousands, the word of Al-Albani goes down the wind, but it sticks to two, three, four, five people who are concerned with applying this legal ruling. And I said on some occasions, and today perhaps many of you prayed Friday with our brother Abu Malik, so I was saying that the life that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) turned the Arabs from the pre-Islamic age of ignorance to Islamic life, alone is a miracle of the miracles. It is known about the Arabs how they lived in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. They embraced Islam while they were drinking intoxicants, they embraced Islam while they were drunk, and some of them committed aggression against each other, and they were weak among the companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and they were killing each other. How was the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) able to turn this pre-Islamic age of ignorance nation, while Abu Malik has been for years that he was able to discipline the worshippers behind him, that they would not precede him with "Ameen." He was not able, every time before he prays he would warn, "Do not precede us, O people, with Ameen," and as if he is talking to the walls. He hardly says "Ameen" unless the mosque is filled with "Ameen." What does this indicate? It indicates that the land is not suitable for planting, yes.

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh : The land is not suitable for planting, because this man has been for how many years saying, "Do not precede me with Ameen. When you start listening, say Ameen, you say Ameen." No life for the one who calls. If the issue is not just teaching and education, if education existed, we need the suitable land that accepts this education.
