The Ruling on Wiping over a Cast

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : However, we add a little regarding the cast. A cast consists of sticks bound over a fracture to set it, which is why it is called a cast, in the hope of recovery.
The scholars say: If a person has a cast, or has a plastered medication or a bandage on a painful area, he wipes over it in the case of minor ritual impurity and major ritual impurity, with a wipe that is not limited by a specific duration. It is not required that he put it on while in a state of ritual purity, because this wiping is a wiping of necessity. Consequently, it differs from wiping over leather socks in that it is not required to be put on while in a state of ritual purity, and it has no limited duration. As long as you need it, wipe over it. However, if it is on a wound, if a person has a wound in his hand, there are levels. The first level: we say you must wash it. If washing harms you, wipe over it. If wiping harms you and there is a bandage on it, wipe over the bandage. If there is no bandage and wiping harms you, perform dry ablution with clean earth on its behalf, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتّقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
Yes.
We now begin with the questions, on the condition that the duration is up to seven and a half days. There is blessing in seven and a half days.
