The story of the Jewish boy who embraced Islam at the hands of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on his deathbed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Another example: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) visited a sick Jewish boy. The Jews are the most wicked of Allah’s servants; they worship what? They worship the calf. The Jews worship the calf. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited him and offered him Islam out of the mercy of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Look, he offered Islam to the Jew in the context of death, yes, perhaps Allah would save him through it from the Fire. He offered him Islam, and the Jewish boy looked at his father, as if consulting him. His father said to him: "Obey Abu al-Qasim". I seek refuge in Allah! If this Jew had remained a Jew out of arrogance, it would be because he knew the Messenger was right. He said to his son, who was a piece of his flesh and the apple of his eye: "Obey Abu al-Qasim". And this is a testimony from the Jew that the Messenger is right. So the Jewish boy embraced Islam. How much time was left for him to enter the Fire? A little, perhaps less than the length of an arm. The Jewish boy embraced Islam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out saying:
Praise be to Allah Who has saved him through me from Hell الحمد لله الذي أنقذه بي من النار
Sunan Abi Dawud 3095Sahih (Al-Albani)
. He did not say, "Praise be to Allah that I saved him from the Fire." The Messenger cannot save anyone from the Fire. He said:
Praise be to Allah Who has saved him through me from Hell الحمد لله الذي أنقذه الله بي
Sunan Abi Dawud 3095Sahih (Al-Albani)
from the Fire من النار
.
