The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "A mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing," and a discussion on the name of Allah, the Hearing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. رحمة من ربك إنه هو السميع العليم
[Ad-Dukhan 44:6]
This means that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) sends the messengers and other things He sends as a mercy to the servants. And He said:
From your Lord من ربك
And Allah the Exalted is the Lord of all things, in His care for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and that the Exalted raised him with a special upbringing.
Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing. إنه هو السميع العليم
[Al-Anfal 8:61]
These are two of the names of Allah; the first is al-Sami' (the Hearing), and it has two meanings.
The first meaning is the Responder, and the second meaning is the One Who Hears.
As for the first, meaning that al-Sami' (the Hearing) means the Responder, its evidence is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication. إن ربي لسميع الدعاء
[Ibrahim 14:39]
meaning the One who responds to the supplication. And from that also is the saying of the one praying:
Allah hears whoever praises him سمع الله لمن حمده
Muwatta Malik 3:17
meaning He responded. And as for the second, from the meaning of the One Who Hears, it is from that.
