The danger of backbiting rulers, publicizing their faults, and the obligation of obeying rulers.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Likewise, if the faults of rulers are publicized without being discussed, there is no doubt that the security system will collapse and the order—meaning the security system—will be disrupted. This is because if the dignity of rulers is trampled upon, they will have no standing in people's hearts and no ability to enforce what they direct. We know that obeying those in authority is part of obeying whom? Whom? Allah and His Messenger. It is obligatory for us to obey them because Allah commanded us to do so. He the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you يا أيها الذين آمنوا أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول وأولي الأمر منكم
[An-Nisa 4:59]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obey and listen, even if a slave is appointed over you. اسمعوا واطيعوا وإن تأمر عليكم عبد
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:1232
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit said:
We pledged to the Messenger of Allah to hear and obey during our hardship and our ease, when we felt energetic and when we felt tired, and when others are preferred over us بايعنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على السمع والطاعة في عسرنا ويسرنا ومنشطنا ومكرهنا وأثرة علينا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 4154
Therefore, I warn my brothers, the scholars and students of knowledge, from this crooked, deviant path, which is for some of us to encroach upon the honor of others. And as I told you, man is not infallible.
