The Ruling on Backbiting Scholars and Rulers and Its Impact on the Ummah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The conclusion is that backbiting is forbidden and one of the major sins, especially when it concerns the rulers, whether they are princes or scholars. Backbiting these people is more severe than backbiting other people, because backbiting scholars diminishes the status of the knowledge in their hearts and which they teach to the people, so the people do not accept the knowledge they bring, and this is harm to the religion. Backbiting rulers diminishes the people's awe of them, so they rebel against them. And if people rebel against the rulers, do not ask about the chaos.
"The people will not be right in chaos without nobles *** Nor will nobles be right if their fools rule"
We ask Allah to protect us and you from what angers Him, for He is Generous and Noble. And I pray and send peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
