What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "But when He gave them goodly things, they ascribed partners to Him in regard to what He gave them"? And is the report of Ibn 'Abbas that this was revealed concerning Adam and Eve authentic?

The questioner : The questioner asks: What is the correct interpretation, in your opinion, of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him. فلما أتاهما صالحا جعلا له شركاء فيما أتاهما فتعالى الله عما يشركون
[Al-A'raf 7:190]
? And is the report narrated by 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the fact that the intended meaning is Adam and Eve established?

The Shaykh : The correct view is that the intended meaning of this verse is the descendants of Adam
It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate هو الذي خلقكم من نفس واحدة وجعل منها زوجها
[Al-A'raf 7:189]
, meaning from this soul, of its kind.
And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein فلما تغشاها حملت حملا خفيفا فمرت به
[Al-A'raf 7:189]
until he said, what?
Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him. فتعالى الله عما يشركون
[Al-A'raf 7:190]
The plural form was used to indicate that this is general for all the descendants of Adam. We mentioned in our book, Sharh al-Tawhid, that the report of Ibn 'Abbas is not authentic. And we mentioned therein, as I recall now, eight points regarding the invalidity of this report. And it is not possible that Adam and Eve are intended by it, because if Adam and Eve were intended, this would be shirk (associating partners with Allah). And the prophets are protected from shirk. And this would have been more fitting for Adam to use as an excuse if intercession were sought from him, whereas he excuses himself with what? With his eating from the tree. In any case, whoever wants to refer to it should refer to it in our aforementioned book.
After the prayer, there are questions, if Allah wills.
