What is the ruling on collective takbir or collective clapping?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner asks: What is the ruling on collective takbir if a person is pleased with something, such as a teacher asking his students to say takbir collectively instead of clapping?

The Shaykh : I do not see any harm in clapping if it occurs from students when something pleases people, or from the khatib, or something similar to that, because it has not been reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he prohibited it. As for the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And their prayer at the House was not except whistling and handclapping وما كان صلاتهم عند البيت إلا مكاء وتصدية
[Al-Anfal 8:35]
, this is because the polytheists worship through clapping and whistling. For this reason, He said:
their prayer at the House was not except whistling and handclapping ما كان صلاتهم عند البيت إلا مكاء وتصدية
[Al-Anfal 8:35]
. Do those who clap when something amazing happens intend worship? No. As for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Glorifying Allah applies to men and clapping applies only to women. التسبيح للرجال والتصفيق للنساء
Sunan Abi Dawud 939Sahih (Al-Albani)
, it was reported with the restriction of his saying:
in the prayer في الصلاة
. If something occurs from the imam that requires attention, the man says Subhan Allah. And the woman? She claps; it is well known that clapping is saying "May Allah reward you with good." The woman claps because it is required that people not hear her voice. Especially in prayer, the worshippers may be distracted by it. Therefore, what is prescribed for her is to clap. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
