Establishing that he is a righteous man
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We say we need to establish another matter. What is it? Establishing that he is a righteous man. Establishing that he is a righteous man, because many people assume a man is righteous when he is not. Is that not so?
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : There is no doubt. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says regarding the hypocrites:[Al-Munafiqun 63:4] In terms of appearance, he is as if he were among the righteous servants of Allah.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:4] In terms of eloquence and clarity. So you would say, "These are among the best of Allah's servants," but they are [Al-Munafiqun 63:4] devoid of good. A plank leaning against a wall—if you remove the wall, what happens? It falls. It has nothing to support it. So the important point is: when someone claims that this is the grave of a righteous man, we demand two things. The first thing: —brother— establishing that it is his grave. Understood.
The student: That he is a righteous man.
The Shaykh : And the second is that he is a righteous man. Understood.
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : There is no doubt. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says regarding the hypocrites:
And when you see them, their forms please you
وإذا رأيتهم تعجبك أجسامهمand if they speak, you listen to their speech
وإن يقولوا تسمع لقولهمas if they were pieces of wood propped up
كأنهم خشب مسندةThe student: That he is a righteous man.
The Shaykh : And the second is that he is a righteous man. Understood.
