The Shaykh : And may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: We listened this evening, on the night of the thirtieth of Jumada al-Akhirah in the year 1418, during the Maghrib prayer, to our imam reciting Surat al-Fatihah, which is a pillar without which the prayer is not valid, and its recitation is a pillar without which the prayer is not valid, and to Surat al-Tariq and Surat al-Tin. So let us begin first with Surat al-Fatihah. We recite it every night, every day, in every prayer, in every rak'ah. Do we know its meaning? Do we know its status in the Noble Book? We must know that the greatest surah in the Book of Allah is Surat al-Fatihah, without which the prayer is not valid. This indicates its importance and that it is among the most important things in the Book of Allah, because our prayer, which is a pillar of the pillars of our religion, is not valid without it, by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 247Sahih (Darussalam).
