The questioner : I would like, O honorable Shaykh, to remain steadfast on the path of Allah and draw near to Him, the Exalted and Sublime. I hope you will guide me to some recommended acts of worship that bring me closer to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and instill in my heart His love and mindfulness of Him?
The Shaykh : The recommended acts of worship are numerous, among them:
The voluntary prayers, such as the twelve regular voluntary prayers (rawatib), which are two rak'ahs before Fajr, four rak'ahs before Zuhr with two taslims, two rak'ahs after it, two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and two rak'ahs after 'Isha'.
Among them is the late-night voluntary prayer (tahajjud) by praying the night prayer, which is performed in pairs of two, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when a man asked him, "What do you say about the night prayer?" He said:Sahih al-Bukhari 990.
Among them are the two rak'ahs of the Duha prayer; a person prays two rak'ahs in the Duha time and adds as much as he wishes, so this is also among the voluntary acts.
Among the voluntary acts are also the voluntary acts in charity, such as being kind to the orphan and the relative, and the like.
As for fasting, voluntary fasting is abundant, such as fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, six days of Shawwal, the ten days of Dhul Hijjah, the ninth and tenth days of the month of Muharram, and others.
Hajj also has voluntary acts, such as circumambulating the House other than the circumambulation of the pilgrimage rites, and repeating 'Umrah and Hajj as much as possible; all of this is among the voluntary acts.
It is established in Sahih al-Bukhari that Allah, the Exalted and Sublime, said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6502.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.

It is established in Sahih al-Bukhari that Allah, the Exalted and Sublime, said:
and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
