A word from the Shaykh on seizing the time for acts of worship.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : From the month of Ramadan and the passing of nights and days, there is a lesson for those who take heed. A month ago, we were anticipating the arrival of Ramadan, and before that, we thought it unlikely that we would reach Ramadan. Now that we have reached it, praise be to Allah, we must take heed of how quickly this worldly life passes. We must consider what remains in light of what has passed, for what remains will pass quickly just as what has passed did, as Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof. كأنهم يوم يرونها لم يلبثوا إلا عشيةً أو ضحاها
[An-Nazi'at 79:46]
This taking heed should bear fruit by seizing the opportunity while we are in the time of respite for this opportunity. We should not waste a minute or a moment without holding ourselves accountable for it, so that we may look at what we have deposited in this moment, or this minute, or this hour. It is astonishing that many of us are stingy with our money, securing it in boxes, and do not spend a single coin from it without knowing its location and its remainder. As for time, which is more precious than money, we measure it out recklessly; we gamble with it without measuring it, and we spend long periods in that which does not please Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. O my brothers,
