Urging the Seizing of the Virtue of Ramadan and the Striving for Righteous Deeds in It Before the Arrival of Death

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : These virtues that are in Ramadan, we should seize the opportunity in them and strive with utmost effort for righteous deeds and leave the forbidden things, because a person does not know whether this month will return to him or not. How many people were with us in this place last year and are now preoccupied with the affairs of their fathers, brothers, friends, and others, and you are heading toward what they have become. The day that came to them will surely come to you. The day will surely come when you wish that you had the weight of an atom of righteous deed. And listen to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back (100) That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind."
[Al-Mu'minun 23:99-100]
Allah the Exalted said:
No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:100]
Do you not know that the dead regret the lack of righteous deeds? Each one of them wishes that in their book there was an increase of good or a decrease of evil. And for this reason, it came in the hadith:
No one dies but that he regrets. If he was a doer of good, he regrets that he did not increase. And if he was a doer of evil, he regrets that he did not seek forgiveness. And we are now wasting time carelessly. We are more negligent with time than we are with money. Indeed, we hold onto money with great firmness, but as for time, which is more precious and more valuable than money, how much of it we waste, either in what is forbidden or in what is of no benefit. And it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." So I advise myself and you in this blessed month and in others to seize the opportunity before the time passes and we are unable to obtain even a little of righteous deeds or to ward off from ourselves even a little of evil deeds.
