Explaining the ruling on naming a woman Abbar and Bayan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, what do you say about Abbar? Abbar takes in all righteousness. Abbar is the plural of a masculine noun. If we name a woman Abbar, do we change it or not?
The student: We change it.

The Shaykh : Yes, it is the Sunnah to change it. If she is righteous, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) changed it. How can we not change Abbar? Abbar has taken in all righteousness. But, glory to Allah the Great, people today are as if names have run out; they go around looking for every strange name, whether it is agreed upon or not, and they bring it in. They say, "One man named his son Naktal." He was asked, "Why did you name your son Naktal?" He said, "Because it is in the Qur'an:
so send with us our brother [that] we will be given measure فأرسل معنا أخانا نكتل
[Yusuf 12:63]
He thought that Naktal was a name, and... In reality, Naktal is a present-tense verb in the jussive mood, serving as the answer to the command: 'Send Naktal, and indeed We are its guardians.' But the poor man thought Naktal was a proper name, so he named his son Naktal, seeking blessing from what came in the Qur'an. So people today have started taking everything from the Qur'an. I heard that some people named their daughter Bayan. Allah said in the Qur'an:
This is a clear explanation for the people هذا بيان للناس
He said, "I want my daughter to be Bayan."
