Fatwa number ( 16779 )
Q: Allah has blessed me by granting me a daughter whom I named (Bayan). When she reached the age of two, one of the brothers informed me that this name, the name (Bayan), is not permissible to use for naming , because it is one of the names of the Qur'an, and it is not permissible to apply it to anything else. He advised me to change the name. I ask your Eminence to guide me to what I can follow, and whether I am obligated to change the name or not? May Allah reward you with the best reward.
A: The word (Bayan) is among the descriptions of the great Qur'an in noble verses, such as the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He): the verse. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
Among the men, though few in number, as is known from looking at books of biographies and histories, and Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
