The Shaykh : [The Prophet is] the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the Righteous, and upon his family and his Companions and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows, O believing brothers, this morning gathering is our first gathering this year in the month of Ramadan, in the year 1404 AH, in the Sacred Mosque, which Allah the Exalted has made a place of return for people and a place of safety. These gatherings between the common people and their scholars have many benefits. Among them is the connection of people to one another. Among them is that the scholars become aware of the problems of the common people, for the scholars are not like the sun, which encompasses everything; rather, they need those who inform them and tell them about the conditions of people so that they can address people regarding their problems. Among them is that the gatherings of knowledge are gatherings of good, remembrance, and teaching of the Shari'ah of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Among them is that if the common people become accustomed to relying on the scholars, the scholars become a reference for them, and they come to them to solve their problems. This is unlike the case if the scholars withdraw and do not connect with the common people, do not understand their conditions, and do not seek out their problems, in which case matters are lost.
