The questioner : May Allah reward you. This is what he says: A person bequeathed a house he owned in Makkah to some of his relatives, and he is now buried in it. Is there any prohibition in that?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : A person bequeathed a house he owned in Makkah to some of his relatives, and he is now buried in it. Is there any prohibition in that?

The Shaykh : I see that this question should be referred to the Shari'ah court to look into the matter. Otherwise, some people may bequeath that they be buried in their house, and the house is their property and they can dispose of it as they wish. However, there is a fear that the outcome will be bad. Perhaps, if time passes, people will exaggerate regarding this man who was buried in his house and will frequent the house. They may even establish a shrine over him, and harm will result from that. So I say to the questioner: it is necessary that you inform the Shari'ah court of this so that they can look into the matter.
