Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And He is the One who is God in the heavens and God in the earth, and He is the Wise, the Knowing," and the refutation of the *Hululiyyun* who say that Allah is in every place

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Our discussion tonight concerns two matters:
The first matter: commenting on the saying of Allah the Exalted, Blessed is He:
And it is Allah who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
[Az-Zukhruf 43:84]
The *Hululiyyun*, the misguided *Jahmiyyah* faction, took from this ambiguous verse the idea that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is in every place with His essence. May Allah disfigure them! They did not purify Allah, Mighty and Majestic, from being in any place on earth, even if it were a place of filth, dirt, stench, carrion, menstruation, or the like. This is because they said: Allah said:
And it is Allah who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity
[Az-Zukhruf 43:84]
They also said: Allah said:
And He is Allah, [the only deity] in the heavens and the earth. He knows your secret and what you make public
[Al-An'am 6:3]
And they said: Allah the Exalted said:
and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
.
They used these verses as evidence, and these verses are among the ambiguous ones that are hidden from those whose hearts Allah has blinded and turned astray
As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding.
[Ali 'Imran 3:7]
