Is there a difference between doctrinal religious innovation and practical religious innovation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is there a difference between religious innovation in belief and religious innovation in jurisprudential rulings?

The Shaykh : There is a difference between doctrinal religious innovation and practical religious innovation:
Doctrinal religious innovation is among the actions of the heart, while practical religious innovation is among the actions of the limbs.
Both may be a cause of disbelief or may not be, depending on what this religious innovation entails and its status in the texts. For example, if a man innovates a practical religious innovation by calling upon a wali (close friend of Allah) from the awliya (close friends of Allah) to aid him, remove his distress, and make him rich, this religious innovation is a practical religious innovation that causes disbelief. If he innovates something less than that which does not take him out of Islam, he is not declared a disbeliever. The same applies to belief: some beliefs are a cause of disbelief, and some are less than that. Yes.
