Is it obligatory for one who abandoned the prayer to make up what he missed if he repents, or not?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I used to not pray during the month of Ramadan, then I repented to Allah. Is it permissible for me to pray the prayers that I missed?

The Shaykh : If a person does not pray, and then Allah grants him guidance, he does not make up what he missed, whether the period was long or short. Repentance wipes out what came before it.
However, he should increase in righteous deeds, so that perhaps Allah will expiate for him what has passed from him.
