The Shaykh : Otherwise, the topic of our lesson is two great stories. The first is the story of the people of Lut. The people of Lut were polytheists, and the most apparent sin among them after shirk (associating partners with Allah) was what? Sodomy, may Allah protect us from it. It is the act of approaching males, which their messenger Lut described as "the great abomination." Allah described zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) as "an abomination." Which is the greater abomination, or the abomination? The great abomination. That means the greater abomination. Therefore, we say that sodomy is greater than zina, may Allah protect us from it. Sodomy is greater than zina, the act of approaching a male, because it was described as "the great abomination," whereas zina was described as "an abomination." This ugly act is one that sound instincts recoil from: a man approaching a man, may Allah protect us from it. For this reason, their Prophet denied them and said: [Ash-Shu'ara 26:165-166] This is contrary to reason. [Ash-Shu'ara 26:166] This is entirely contrary to reason. It is one of the most dangerous things for nations in terms of the inversion and corruption of morals. Therefore, the one who is acted upon, when he grows up, becomes aware of this act, and his face remains darkened. How can he face people? Some of them even intended to kill the one who committed the abomination with him, saying, "Because he made me walk among people as if I were a woman." He does not regret it until he grows up. It is a great and major abomination, and it is not possible to guard against it, because how can you find two males walking together and say, "Separate them"? It is not possible. But you might find a man with a woman who is not his relative and say, "Separate them." But this is a difficult, hidden matter that spreads through society like poison in the body.
