Discussion of the grave sin of sodomy and its punishment.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the grave sin of sodomy is greater than the grave sin of unlawful sexual intercourse, which is why Allah described unlawful sexual intercourse as a grave sin, while Lot described it as "the" grave sin. Where is the first expression? The brother? You, you!
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Or did you drift off a little? Yes. Stand up.
The student: In Surat al-Isra,
And do not approach zina. Indeed, it is a shameful act. ولا تقربوا الزنا إنه كان فاحشة

The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said:
And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. ولا تقربوا الزنا إنه كان فاحشةً وساء سبيلاً
[Al-Isra 17:32]
As for Lot, he said to his people,
Do you approach the shameful act? أتأتون الفاحشة
meaning the sin whose obscenity is firmly established in sound minds and is well known to everyone. For this reason, the stronger position is that both the active and passive parties are to be killed if they are adults and the passive party was not forced into the act. Both are to be killed, even if they are not married. This differs from unlawful sexual intercourse, where only the married person is stoned. As for sodomy, the person is killed even if not married. The Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The Companions unanimously agreed on killing the active and passive parties in sodomy" but they differed on how they should be killed. Some said they should be burned with fire, some said they should be stoned with stones, and some said they should be thrown from the highest point in the city and then stoned.
