Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And whoever does not repent, then those are the wrongdoers." Definition of repentance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
And whoever does not repent, then those are the wrongdoers ومن لم يتب فأولئك هم الظالمون
We need to pause now to know what repentance is and what its conditions are. We say: Repentance is the return of the servant from the disobedience of Allah to His obedience. This is the definition of repentance: the return of the servant from the disobedience of Allah to His obedience. An example of this is a man who neglects the congregational prayer, then Allah bestows upon him and guides him, and he begins to pray with the congregation. What do we say about this man? He has repented; he is a repentant person. But tell me, if he repents, does he return to his original state before the sin, or to a state lower than that, or to a state similar to it? The answer is: to a state higher than his original state. If he repents and his repentance is sincere, he attains a rank higher than the first, higher than his state before he repented.
