Refuting Those Who Deny the Exaltation of Allah and Claim That Allah Is in Every Place by His Essence, from the Book, the Sunnah, and Consensus

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah, I seek refuge in Allah. And the truth is, how can a believer in Allah stand firm on this claim? The implication of this claim is that if a person is in the toilet, in the filthiest and most foul-smelling place, then Allah is in it. I seek refuge in Allah. Exalted is Allah above their saying, greatly exalted. And glory be to Allah in the morning and in the evening. Can a believer believe this? Absolutely not, it is impossible. And glory be to Allah, if Allah is in every place by His essence, then either He is divided into parts, or He is multiplied. It must be one or the other: either He is divided, with some of Him here and some of Him there—there is no power and no strength except by Allah—or He is multiplied, being in every place. We are now in Madinah, and He is in Makkah; in Riyadh, He is in Riyadh; in every place. So either He is multiplied or He is divided. And by this, they believe they are purifying Allah, but they have strayed far and committed an error. It is impossible for a person who believes in Allah to stand firm on this false claim. The exaltation of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is established by all types of evidence: the Qur'an, the Sunnah, consensus, reason, and fitrah (the innate natural disposition). All evidence establishes the exaltation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). In the Qur'an, who among you can bring me a proof? No, someone else. Yes.
The student:
Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you
[Al-Mulk 67:16]

The Shaykh :
Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you
[Al-Mulk 67:16]
This is one, and the proofs are in the hundreds. Be patient, man, stay in front. Yes.
The student :
The angels ascend in a day when
..

The Shaykh : Well done.
The angels and the Spirit
[Al-Ma'arij 70:4]
And "al-'uruj" means ascending to Allah, so He is above. In any case, the proofs reach the hundreds. This is one.
The Sunnah is the same. The Sunnah also.
The student : Yes, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except by Allah. What is this? ... In front. Also, the Sunnah is abundant.
The student : Yes, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except by Allah. That is enough. We have also established the Sunnah. It also indicates the exaltation of Allah. Please.
The student : The hadith of the maidservant. The hadith of Mu'awiyah ibn Hukam al-Sulami. When he struck her, he brought her to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ...

The Shaykh : Well done. Perfect. May Allah reward you. The hadith
The maidservant of Mu'awiyah ibn Hukam al-Sulami. He became angry with her and struck her, and he came to seek the ruling of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding it, intending to free her as expiation for striking her. He said: "Bring her." Then he said to the maidservant: "Where is Allah?"
Did he say "Where is Allah" or did he say "From whom is Allah"? "Where" in the Arabic language is for place.
Where is Allah ? She replied: In the heaven.
Sunan Abi Dawud 3282Sahih (Al-Albani)
Glory be to Allah, a maidservant is more understanding than those whose door of understanding has been closed, and I seek refuge in Allah. She said: "In the sky." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) built upon this answer and said:
Set her free, for she is a believer
And he did not say "Free her, for she is a disbeliever." He said:
Set her free, for she is a believer
This is a clear proof. And it is called by the hadith scholars a verbal, practical, or tacit proof? Answer, everyone. The third or the first? The third. This is a tacit proof. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) cannot approve a denial. At 'Arafah, the greatest gathering in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered with his Companions at 'Arafah, he preached to the people and admonished them with a eloquent sermon, then he said:
Have I not conveyed (the message)?’ They said: ‘Yes.” He said: ‘O Allah, bear witness.’
Sunan Ibn Majah 3931Sahih (Darussalam)
Have I not conveyed it? They said: Yes. He said: O Allah, bear witness. Have I not conveyed it? They said: Yes. He said: O Allah, bear witness.
Three times. And this is an indication by what? By the act. It was established by the act in the great scene. The gathering was large. He raised his finger to the sky and bore witness to Allah over his Companions that they had acknowledged that he had conveyed the message. And we in this Prophet's Mosque bear witness to Allah that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, that he conveyed the clear message, and that he left his community on a white path, its night like its day. We ask Allah to make us among those who are illuminated by it, living and dead. Now, what remains of the types?
The student : The verbal.

The Shaykh : The verbal. The verbal. The Sunnah is full of it. Does the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not say in his prayer:
Glory be to my Lord, the Most High

The student : Yes

The Shaykh : And does he not say to his community: لما نزلت هذه الآية سبح اسم ربك الأعلى يقول : اجعلوها في سجودكم When this verse was revealed: "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High," he said: "Make it in your prostrations." And this is an acknowledgment. Yes, and this is verbal.
The valid consensus is the consensus of the Salaf (the earliest generations), and whoever comes after them contradicting their statement is outside the consensus. The Salaf: the Companions, the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions), and the Imams of the Muslims after them. Not a single letter has been reported from any one of them saying: "Allah is not in the sky." Absolutely not. And these books of chains of narration, the authentic and good ones, are with us. None of them says so. So, is this claim, meaning the exaltation of Allah, a consensus or a disagreement? A consensus. And based on the rule I mentioned a moment ago, that if nothing is reported from the Companions contradicting the Qur'an, then it is a consensus from them. What remains? I mentioned five to you. Just a word, O Abu 'Abd al-'Aziz. Good.
