How is the inner self rectified?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : You mentioned, may Allah bless you, O Shaykh, in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the brave man who left nothing, neither stray nor incoming, and they said: He is from the people of Paradise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
he belongs to the people of Fire
Sahih al-Bukhari 6607
You mentioned, may Allah bless you, regarding the rectification of the inner self.

The Shaykh : about?

The questioner : Regarding the rectification of the inner self, how is the rectification of the inner self achieved?

The Shaykh : The hadith established in al-Bukhari in the story of the man who left nothing, neither stray nor incoming, so the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
he would be amongst the dwellers of Hell
Sahih Muslim 112b
, and I do not know that anyone said: He is from the people of Paradise, but the Messenger said:
He is from the people of the Fire. That was great for the Companions, and they said: How can this man be from the people of the Fire? So one of them said: By Allah, I will keep him in my company and see what his state will be. In the end, the man killed himself, so the one who kept him in his company came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah. He said: With what? So he informed him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a man may do the deed of the people of Paradise in what appears to people, and he is from the people of the Fire.
: And this indicates clearly that the criterion and the essence lie in what is in the heart of intention, and this is indicated by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(9) But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered (10) And that within the breasts is obtained,
[Al-'Adiyat 100:9-10]
, and His saying the Exalted:
(8) Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. (9) The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
[At-Tariq 86:8-9]
are tested.
The rectification of the inner self is achieved by sincere sincerity with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), such that one does not care about the creation, whether they praise him or blame him, benefit him or harm him. His heart is with Allah in worship and devotion, love and exaltation, and his heart is with Allah in estimation and management, knowing that what befell him was not to miss him, and what missed him was not to befall him. He is pleased with what Allah has decreed for him. When an event occurs, he says: Perhaps it will be good. He always feels the saying of Allah the Exalted:
perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.
[An-Nisa 4:19]
,
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.
[Al-Baqarah 2:216]
and the like of the heart's attachment to Allah. The most important thing is that your heart is with Allah always, and if it is with Allah always, your inner self is rectified, because you do not care about the creation. The creation is to you like yourself, or less. As long as you are attached to your Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He), taking refuge in Him, guided by His guidance, they do not concern you.
